Lukman Mohammed, UDS Tamale Campus Former SRC President Confirms In His Response The Actual Amount Spent on Bus Terminal Project

The immediate past president of the University for Development Studies Tamale Campus, Mr. Lukman has today responded to allegations of an alleged embezzlement of SRC funds following a scandal that hit the Tamale campus where an outrageous amount was used for construct a bus terminal and relaxation bench for students.

According to reports reaching us here at Yila yIli, following the nationwide trend on social media for the wrong reasons in the university where it is alleged that the SRC president Mr. Lukman Mohammed used a whopping GHc 63,175.00 to construct one bus terminal for use by students. Many are of the view that the price is outrageous and the president should be sanctioned and if possible his certificate withheld to serve as a deterrent to future SRC presidents. Since the news broke out, students from the University for Development Studies have been crying foul and calling for heads to roll at they see this as a clear misappropriation of fund and an abuse of office which is a capital crime according to the laws of the university thus are calling for the law to take its full course.

There are always two sides to every story thus the accused former SRC President Mr. Lukman Mohammed has today come out to refute all claims of foul play as has been circulating on social media and beyond. According to the alleged culprit, Mr. Lukman Mohammed, all accusations leveled against against him are false and should be disregarded. He further stated that due diligence was done as is the norm in the university for the general assembly approved. He further stated that the university management were in charge of design, procurement and architectural design through what he describes as the Work and Physical Development Unit of the University Campus.

The accused SRC president Mr Lukman Mohammed did in no way in his response to allegations of embezzlement dispute the amount of money that was spent for the project which is the main concern for many who feel that the amount is outrageous and should be audited. Experts in the construction fraternity have also come out to state that the amount for the project is deeply expensive and even in this era of construction material being expensive is still very abnormal which is more than 10 times the actual price.

Reports coming in suggest that the said Bus terminal has been destroyed by the school as the SRC did not do due diligence in securing the site for the project. As to whether these reports as true or not, we shall keep you posted.
